Dear VS-29 Members,

Well we all made it through the first VS-29 Reunion in 40 years. Everyone started arriving on Tuesday, March 3, by that afternoon almost everyone had checked in. Bill Andrews  was the first on Tuesday and Bob Young was the last member to check in on Thursday afternoon. We had people from both sides of the USA . Dick Amundson from Seattle , WA . to Sonny Palmer from Topsham , Me. The youngest attending was my Grandson Mason at age 2. Ken Storm found out about the reunion about 2 week before the starting date. The highest ranking member was Bob Carius, RADM.

We started with a welcome aboard to everyone, a reading of members that were deceased. After the business which lasted about 15 or 20 minutes we all got down to some good sea story telling and beer drinking. On Wednesday we went to the Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola Naval Air Station. First on the agenda was the Imax Theater after which we went to lunch at the Historic Cubi Bar and  Café. After lunch we had some time to explore on our own and have a group picture made by Bill Belus. About 1400 we meet and had a guided tour of the Museum, this completed the days activities. Most people returned to the conference room at the Days Inn to tell more sea stories, the evening meal was on your own and many member got with their friends for a renewing of friendships. Thursday we had breakfast in the conference room and the ladies left for their lunch at the Elks Club “thanks to Pat for a great time was had by all at the lunch”. Bill Belus went to the ladies lunch to take pictures and when he returned he was in a state of shock. His words, “those ladies are insane, I was lucky to get out of there with my shirt on”. I thing everyone had a good time. Vern Long had a group to play golf and the rest have lunch at the motel. Thursday night we had dinner at The Market Place, the meal was very good and you could not beat the price. Friday morning we had a catered breakfast, after which members started to leave. We had the conference room until Saturday morning so the rest of the member stayed and solved all of the world crises.

In closing here is a list of the attending  members. I think a good time was had by all. I would like to thank everyone for coming, we could not have done it without each and everyone. The members that could not attend you were in our thoughts and missed by all. If anyone can think of anything I missed please send it to me.
